That said at least EDIT mode is black background. Preferences should simply have a few preset options of stages of gray through black at the very least. Much, much easier on the eyes and makes the photos pop more. A simple slider would do, just like iPhoto, and I'd hope they will implement that before the final. The ONLY think I would wish for, and it's a very easy thing, is an option to change the stark white background to a grey or black.

So many ways to search, and you can always manually make albums if needed- but I find the chronological concept and groupings pretty ideal. Once you release control, it's a huge weight off, and the photo philosophy makes sense.

He likes the straightening tool in 7, more controlled than in 9.I absolutely love the new Photos, and the fact that I don't have to think about anything anymore, in terms of backup, syncing, etc. Mr H actually doesn't like iPhoto 9 (on my iMac) as much as 7.1.5 which he still uses on his MBP. Mr H loves iPhoto for ease of editing - we also have Elements and Photoshop which should still work after the update. Well, the frustration is over, because today, as always, I clicked on iPhoto listing in the Updates tab of the App Store, and, to my surprise and delight, the upgrade to version 9.6. I was among that group who tried, but failed, to download that final upgrade. Right now all is OK with iPhoto, but I know it won't be once I do the update from Snow to El Cap. This frustration went on for about six months.

> or is it safe to just download it to my iMac direct?Īgain, thank you so very much for answering my plea!!ĭont worry all you get the file and nothing else, i use wetransfer as they give you up to 2GB file transfer for free I want to update iphoto 7.1.5 to a newer version, but I dont know how to do it. I will boot to an external and do the download My advice to you is to start using the Photos app which is much better than iPhoto. However, if you upgrade beyond Mojave this year (10.15.X), iPhoto will no longer work. I have iPhoto 7.1.5 on two MBPs (Mavs and Snow) and 9.2.3 on my iMac in Snow and I will need 9.6.1 on all 3. My experience with iPhoto 9.6.1 is if it is already installed, it will remain if you upgrade to Mojave. > Does that mean I shouldn't have any of the earlier versions of iPhoto installed prior to installing this?
